Privacy policy

In short
- This website collects nothing by itself: no cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking.
- When you book, you send us your details yourself, on WhatsApp.
- We use your details only to arrange and give classes. We never sell them and never use them for advertising.
- Children are booked by a parent or guardian, and we ask for as little as possible about them.
- You can ask for a copy, a correction or the deletion of your data at any time: see Your data rights.
1. Who is responsible for your data
At-Tawwabun Academy is responsible for the personal data described here (the "controller"). You can contact us about your data on WhatsApp at +213 658 387 528 or by email at altawabunquranacademy [at] gmail.com.
We follow Algerian Law 18-07 on the protection of personal data (as amended by Law 25-11), Law 18-05 on electronic commerce, and, for students in Europe, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What we collect
On this website
Nothing. The website has no cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no code from other companies. The booking form and the data-rights form only prepare a message on your device; they send nothing. If you allow it, your language and display choice are kept on your own device (see the cookie policy).
Like every website, the server that hosts this site may keep short technical logs (such as IP address, date and page requested) to keep the site secure. We do not use them to identify or follow visitors.
When you book
Only what you choose to send us in your WhatsApp message: your name, the student's first name and age, country or time zone, program, plan, teacher preference, class language, preferred times, any notes, your consent and your news choice. WhatsApp also shows us your phone number and WhatsApp name.
During classes
The student's level, progress notes, schedule and attendance. We do not record classes unless you agree in writing first (a parent or guardian for a child).
When you pay
Your name, the plan, the amount, the date, the payment reference and the invoice. We never ask for card numbers, passwords or codes.
Learning the Quran and your beliefs
The fact that you or your child study the Quran or Islamic subjects with us may show your religion. We treat this as sensitive information: we use it only to give your classes, with your express consent, and never for anything else.
What we do not want
Please do not send us health details, identity numbers, bank card details or photos of children. If you send them by mistake, we delete them.
3. Why we use your data, and on what basis
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Arranging a trial class and classes | Booking details, messages | Your request and our agreement with you, with your consent |
| Giving classes and following progress | Name, age, level, progress notes | Our agreement with you |
| Children's classes | Child's first name, age, level | Consent of the parent or legal guardian |
| Sending details through WhatsApp and Gmail, whose servers are abroad | Booking details, messages | Your express consent |
| Prices, payments and invoices | Name, plan, payment records | Our agreement with you, and our legal duties (accounting) |
| News messages | WhatsApp number | Your consent (optional, you can stop at any time) |
| Showing your feedback on this website, without your name | The text of your message | Your consent; removed within 7 days if you ask |
| Safety and handling your requests | Messages, request details | Our legal duties and our legitimate interest in keeping students safe |
4. Children
- Students under 18 (under 19 in Algeria, where 19 is the age of majority) must be booked by a parent or legal guardian, who gives consent for the child.
- We ask only for the child's first name, age, level and progress. We do not ask children for photos, addresses or contact details.
- Outside class, teachers talk to the parent or guardian, not to the child.
- No recording without the parent's written consent.
- Children's data is never used for advertising or profiling.
5. Who receives your data
| Who | Why |
|---|---|
| The student's teacher | To give and follow the classes. Teachers keep your data confidential. |
| WhatsApp (Meta) | To exchange messages with you. |
| Gmail (Google) | If you write to us by email. |
| The video tool used for classes | To hold live classes. |
| Our website host | To run the website (technical logs only). |
| Bank or payment service | To receive your payments. |
| Public authorities | Only when the law requires it. |
We never sell your data and never share it for advertising.
6. Transfers outside Algeria
WhatsApp, Gmail and the video tool are run by companies whose servers may be outside Algeria (and, for students in Europe, outside the European Union). We send your details through them only with the express consent you give in the booking form, and with any authorisation required by the Algerian data protection authority (ANPDP).
7. How long we keep your data
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Booking messages from people who do not start classes | 6 months after the last message, then deleted |
| Student records (level, progress, schedule) | While classes continue, then 1 year after the last class |
| The booking message that records your consent | As long as the data it covers is kept |
| Invoices and payment records | 10 years, as Algerian accounting law requires |
| News consent | Until you send STOP. We keep the STOP itself for 3 years so we never write to you again by mistake. |
| Data-rights requests and our replies | 3 years |
| Feedback shown on this website (without names) | Until you ask us to remove it; we remove it within 7 days |
8. Security
Our WhatsApp and email accounts are protected with two-step verification. Teachers see only the data they need for their students. We delete data when we no longer need it. If a data breach puts your data at risk, we inform the ANPDP within 5 days as Algerian law requires (and, where the GDPR applies, the competent European authority within 72 hours), and we tell you without delay if the risk to you is high.
9. Your rights
- Access: ask for a copy of your data.
- Correction: ask us to correct wrong or incomplete data.
- Deletion: ask us to delete your data, except what the law makes us keep.
- Withdrawing consent: at any time, for the future.
- Objection: to a use of your data based on our legitimate interest.
- In the European Union, also: portability (receiving your data in a usable format) and restriction (pausing a use while a question is checked).
To use a right, see Your data rights. We reply within 30 days, free of charge.
10. Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Algerian data protection authority (ANPDP, Autorité nationale de protection des données à caractère personnel) or, in Europe, to the authority of your country (in France, the CNIL (opens in a new tab)).
11. News messages
We send occasional news on WhatsApp only if you ticked the box for it. You can stop at any time by sending STOP, or on the Unsubscribe page. Every news message links to that page.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change is important, we tell our students on WhatsApp before it applies.
